The application was submitted last December, and yesterday afternoon Principal Bonnet announced that U.S. Secretary of Education Arne Duncan had designated PS 150 as one of 337 National Blue Ribbon Schools for 2014. This special distinction is awarded to public and private elementary, middle, and high schools across the country “based on their overall academic excellence or their progress in closing achievement gaps among student subgroups.”
PS 150 is only one of 17 elementary schools in New York State, and the only elementary school in Manhattan, to receive this year’s honor. Along with the other recipients, our school will be recognized at a special ceremony in November in Washington, D.C, and we will also receive a plaque and a flag symbolizing our status as a National Blue Ribbon School.
Congratulations to Principal Bonnet, our teachers and staff, and our kids on this great achievement!
