Every year, the PTA elects two new parents to serve as Members-at-Large, and this year we welcome Anshal Purohit and Melanie Barrows, who both have children in the Kindergarten class. Members-at-Large traditionally organize our charitable drives, and we are happy to begin this holiday season with a collection for the Parents Pantry Program, which helps families affected by pediatric cancer who are living at the Ronald McDonald House New York.
Many of these families, living in NYC while their children undergo cancer treatment, struggle to afford the basic necessities of life, and the Parents Pantry gives them a place where they can shop, free of charge, for supplies including non-perishable food, toiletries, cleaning supplies, and paper goods.
Burlap bags are in place in the lobby and will be there until Friday, Dec. 12. Please support this great cause by dropping off new and unused items from this list:
- Canned fruits and vegetables
- Canned soup
- Pasta, pasta sauces, and noodles
- Juice boxes
- Canned tuna
- Individual microwaveable meals
- Raisins, granola bars, and other healthy snacks
- Full-size toothpaste and toothbrushes
- Full-size shampoo and conditioner
- Full-size deodorant
- Toilet paper
- Plastic utensils
- Paper towels and napkins
- Paper plates and bowls
- Clorox/Lysol wipes
- Liquid hand soap
The Parents Pantry program is supplied exclusively by local schools, and PS 150 is honored to be a part of this program.
