Last week we said goodbye to our 5th Grade class, and also to three much loved members of our staff. Annie Singh, who has served breakfast and lunch to our children for 25 years, has retired, as has school aide Mille Ruiz, who has helped around the school in countless ways, and in particular with the Kindergarten class, for 8 years. Sara Coren, our 4th Grade teacher, will be moving to a new home and teaching position in Connecticut.
On Tuesday, June 23 we held a special party for Annie, Millie, and Sara on the plaza. Tony led our children in moving and adorable performances of “Thank You For Being A Friend,” best known as the theme song from The Golden Girls (which my 7-year-old is now asking to watch!) and “Saying Goodbye” from The Muppets Take Manhattan. Later, the 4th and 5th Grade classes presented Sara with a special send-off book.
Here are a video and some pictures of the party. These were taken by 5th Grade parent Wendy Chapman, to whom we also say thank you and bid a fond farewell. Wendy has been at the school for 11 years and has probably performed every volunteer function available to a parent!
